In my portfolio images I mostly focus on landscapes and cityscapes, but you’ll also see a some architecture and street photography sprinkled in here from time to time. For me, sunrises and sunsets are the most beautiful times of each day. I cherish any experience I get to sit on a cliff overlooking a sunrise, on a beach watching the sunset, or watching a city skyline light up at dusk. Peaceful Herbert Lake

The Icefields Parkway is one of the most beautiful and scenic drives in the world. Connecting the two mountain villages of Banff and Jasper, the photography options along this highway are unlimited. Peaceful Herbert Lake is the image that immediately comes to mind every time I think of this trip. This stop is only a few kilometers from the exit off the TransCanada, and is very popular with tourist buses. To experience a peaceful, easy feeling, try to arrive before dawn. As the sun rises, the lake is covered in a misty fog with the sun burning it off as the temperature rises. The water is crystal clear, revealing all of the finer details below the surface. I have heard from locals this lake can warm to temps comfortable enough for swimming, but obviously only in the summer months. Herbert Lake is a terrific start to a day filled with unbelievable sites along the Icefields Parkway.
